What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research & Insights Specialist position at WONGDOODY?


WONGDOODY is hiring a Research & Insights Specialist as part of our growing Strategy Practice. This role will focus on managing our primary research capability and leading the next-stage development of our proprietary Insights Tool: The Sounding Board. The insights generated through our research will ensure that the strategies, brand and experience work we deliver will resonate with the people we create them for while creating business value for our clients.

The Insights Manager will become WONGDOODY’s research facilitator and expert across our client work and new business pitches, working with colleagues located around the globe. You will collaborate closely with our strategists to understand their project priorities, learning objectives, then designing research that meets those objectives. You will own the fielding of research, recruitment of respondents and synthesizing of data. Your expertise and experience with different research vendors will inform and guide our partnerships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work closely with strategists to develop and facilitate research plans, on time and budget.
    • Ex task: Ensure surveys are logical and are built in ways to address client objectives.
    • EX task: Ensure surveys are created in ways that optimize respondent engagement.
  • Maintain data privacy and security protocolsaccording to global requirements
  • Clean up raw data from surveys to facilitate proper data analysis
  • Provide guidance to strategists on reports and data interpretation
    • Review results output from surveys and provide POV and initial insights
    • Provide recommendations on data analysis methodologies to explore
  • Ideate on process improvements to make our projects run more smoothly and efficiently.
  • Work with accounting to ensure proper and timely billing on all research projects.
  • Work with technology team on next generation product roadmap
  • Manage relationship between agency and recruitment vendors
  • Scale The Sounding Board globally by identifying and working with in-market research partners

WHAT YOU'RE LIKE

  • Someone who is equally comfortable plowing through lengthy client briefs to distill a jumping off point for strategy and briefs, and 
  • Both brained thinker:
    • Knowledge of how to create statistically significant research surveys, with ability to deviate from standard processes as survey needs dictate.
    • Strong understanding of survey methodologies with the ability to think outside the box and create innovative solutions to solving problems.
  • Detail oriented with comfortability performing data entry tasks 
  • Strong interpersonal skills - comfortable working with a variety of different people internally and externally
  • Strong project management skills - comfortable building timeline and ensuring individuals and teams are working towards deadlines and milestones.

WHAT YOU'VE GOT

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Proficiency with SPSS functionality, especially related to data analysis.
  • Proficiency with survey creation tools (i.e. SurveyMonkey)
  • Experience authoring and programming surveys as well as facilitating other research methodologies(both qualitative and quantitative)
  • Experience with market research “sample recruitment”
  • Working with strategist and outside sample partners to recruit custom audiences.
  • Strong comfort with leading research methods typically used by marketing and creative agencies including qualitative generative and exploratory research, positioning testing, and creative testing as well as quantitative (e.g. brand perception surveys, cluster analysis and segmentation studies)

Soft Skills

  • Ability to translate technical terminology into layman terms and vice versa.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals across different levels of the organization (i.e. from developers to senior leadership
  • Ability to interpret raw data and communicate research data in ways that are easy to understand.
