Overview / Responsibilities
Responsible for the leadership and management of the materials and logistics team across a deployedproject providing all aspects of materials management including; expediting, logistics, shipping, materialscontrol, inventory, warehousing and reporting.Key aspects of the role include the direction and management of the materials and logistics activities for aspecific project. The administration and supervision of assigned materials and logistics personnel workingon the project. Ensuring the competence and performance of all assigned materials and logistics personnelwithin their role.To manage the effective expediting, receipt, storage, movement and control of all inventory and materialsto support the project. To liaise with supply chain, clients, freight forwarders, customs control, supply baseand marine contractors (as applicable) to ensure that all materials and equipment are marshalled andshipped in accordance with Wood procedures and client requirements.Regularly monitors and reports progress of materials and logistics activities. Ensuring team regularly updatereports/material systems with required information to allow accurate reporting, and escalates any criticalissues and risks to the Supply Chain Manager.
- Leads, Manages, and supports the full range of materials and logistics activity including but notlimited to: Materials status reporting, project/client/supplier progress meetings, liaison with all keystakeholders, the allocation, control, issue and marshalling of materials, production of shippingdocumentation, warehouse management and materials handling, management of plant andequipment, fabrication management, PSR management, inventory management
- Design, establish, manage and maintain the warehousing/materials control facility and operation atthe designated warehouse/work site/client facility
- Ensure the efficient operation of and continuously monitor the efficiency and performance of thewarehouse operations, including the utilisation of labour
- Establishes priorities, assigns workloads and reviews the more difficult and complex aspects of thematerials and logistics workload.
- Establish and monitor project material control systems, including customised project reporting.
- Accountable for all Freight Forwarding and Import / Export and Customs control activities, andcompliance thereof.
- Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for identification, minimising andmanagement of project surplus and scrap materials.
- KPI reporting and performance including positive identification checks / stock turns as appropriate
- Development and implementation of inventory/material management strategies that improveefficiency for Wood and our clients, including but not limited to Kanban, use of consignmentstocks, FIFO/min – max levels, track and trace.
- Accountable for the management of Inventory in accordance with required inventory regime andensuring accuracy thereof by monitoring of warehouse activity, cycle counts and stock checks andthe maintaining of data integrity in material management systems.
- Accountable for the application of correct maintenance and preservation of inventory/materials forstored equipment and the assurance thereof.
- Escalation point for all Project personnel, client representatives, and suppliers where appropriate toresolve materials supply issues.
- Ensures all materials and logistics activities are carried out in accordance with the project executionplan/schedule and/or contracting strategy, within approved budgets and in line with projectprocesses and procedures.
- Ensures that materials and logistics team carry out all activity in accordance with the Wood SupplyChain Code of Conduct, ensures that all statutory and legal requirements and applicable processesand procedures are complied with and all documents are filed accurately and fully auditable.
- Ensure and confirm compliance to safe working practices and be a role model for safety leadershipat all times.
- Act as a role model and champion Woods vision, values and behaviours.
- Act as a role model to embed the Financial Management Framework across the business
- Implement robust performance management and development plans for the team, ensuring anygaps are addressed and development and succession planning is managed effectively.
Skills / Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and experience:
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in industry demonstrating results and progression to a similarmanagement position.• Logistics and Materials Management• Inventory Management• ERP systems• Client contract requirements• Supply Chain Principles and techniques
Experience of:
• Leadership, motivation and development of teams and individuals• Key material control and logistics concepts and principles.• Previous use of ERPs such as Maximo, Oracle, SAP.• Implementation of inventory/material processes and procedures.• Experience in audit and assurance
