Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for an HSSE Intern to join our office in Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct HSE training programs and project induction
- Communicate health and safety action plans, concerns, and decisions to respective personnel on site, client and contractors
- Carry out daily HSE inspections, and to follow up on any deficiencies noted with contractors’ field management
- Participate in the investigation and reporting of any incidents that require such action and follow up on medical treatment for any casualty
- Implement proactive measures to curb accident/incident, unsafe behaviors/conditions from recurrence through promotion, campaigns, and talks/training
- Manage site HSE records (audit, inspection, meetings, incidents, toolbox talks, pre-job start talk)
- Ensure contractor implement the safe work procedure as per agreed work methods
- Review chemicals to identify and minimize possible health, safety and environmental problems in construction, commissioning, transportation, and operations
- Conduct BBSOs to identify unsafe behavior or conditions to reduce loss or near loss incidents and reinforce good safety behavior
- Attend pre-start and Toolbox Meetings
- Ensure workers receive the right instruction on safe work procedure taking in account of language/translation requirements
- Liaise with project appointed medical facility on first aid and medical treatments
- Perform other related duties assigned by direct supervisor
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a field related to HSSE
- Able to interpret the project fire, safety, health and environment plan and implement the program during construction and commissioning phase
- Familiar with Wood, Client and International Certification systems (e.g. ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 systems), applicable for the project
- Fulfil the qualification, experience and competency required by local regulatory agency to act as the project HSE supervisor
- Able to apply the legal and other requirements (ISO, Wood and Client) to ensure the safety of all the workers
- Passionate and possess initiatives to solve site issues and able to work as a team. Possess good communication skills
