Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for an Internal Auditor with internal audit, risk or finance experience in large, complex organizations for our Houston, TX Office. Local candidates preferred.
The Internal Auditor will be part of the internal audit team, and will deliver components of the internal audit programme under the guidance of the more senior members of the team. The role provides assurance as to the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment as an integral part of the overall governance, risk, and control framework established by the ELT and the Board.
Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.
The role is responsible for the delivery of assigned audits or parts of audits to deadlines, which involves the planning and delivery of internal audit activity (currently focused on financial, commercial, contractual, compliance, tax, treasury, and IT areas of the business). As a member of the Group Internal Audit team, the role also contributes to the strategic direction of the internal audit function.
The role provides ad hoc input for regular updates to the Audit Committee / Board on the internal audit plan, results and progress against the plan, and risk management.
- Accountable for delivery of assigned audits or parts of audits in the West or East to deadlines, which involves the planning and delivery of internal audit activity (currently focused on financial, commercial, contractual, compliance, tax, treasury, and IT areas of the business
- Responsible for documenting audit evidence to a high standard and on a timely basis
- Learn from other internal audit team members to develop skills and capability
- Responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with auditees
- Provide ad hoc input to support the more senior members of the team for regular updates to the Audit Committee / Board on the internal audit plan, results and progress against the plan, and risk management
- A member of the Group Internal Audit team who considers strengths and areas for development for themselves and for the team as a whole
- Follow department priorities that are aligned with the needs of the business, with a focus on adding value through the implementation of efficient and cost effective practices, programs and services
- Participate in internal investigations in accordance with the Group’s Ethics Investigation Protocol, or otherwise, in cooperation with the Group Compliance and Legal functions, and external providers, as necessary

- Lead by personal example by conducting all activities in accordance with all applicable laws and the Group’s standards and policies
Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in business, accounting, finance, or other related field – preferred
- Pursuing applicable professional accounting designation such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA – desirable
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience in a finance related discipline within the business, FTSE 250 or international companies of similar scale and complexity – minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
- International outlook and openness to working with different cultures – willingness to travel domestically and internationally on audit assignments (up to 50%) is essential
- Interest in learning about sound business and accounting control practices including IT systems
- Experience in internal audit, risk, and / or finance in large complex organizations and familiar with applicable laws, global standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to quickly build relationships and to work effectively as part of a team
- Track record of learning and developing through on the job training
Knowledge of:
