Shipper is a physical position needed to support the shipping of our product, as well as accompanying packaging in a manufacturing environment. This position requires someone that can pack products and wrap ovens, use power tools, and typically use wood screws, pneumatic nail guns, and staple guns. This is a fast-paced job, and typically involves being on your feet for extended periods of time.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build custom-sized crates (as and when needed) for varying part/component shipping.
- Use of power saws, drills, and other common hand tools.
- Ability to read and analyze work order blueprint.
- Packs items with foam materials for protection during shipping
- Pulls accessories per pick lists to complete customer orders and inspects final products to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Wrapping of product in preparation for shipment
- Utilizes paperwork to record the shipment of goods with job orders, picklist, pack slips, and bills of lading while working on a computer or handheld device and marking items with identifying information.
- Using a forklift for loading/unloading of trucks both freestanding and at the loading dock
- Adhered to safety procedures and keep work area clean; replenishing work supplies when they become low.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-minded.
- Willing to work overtime as needed.
- Willing to be cross-trained in building custom crates.
Key Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to operate small hand tools required including screw gun, pneumatic nail gun, circular saw, and chop saw.
- Ability to read blueprints, and drawings and extract proper information for labeling/wrapping units, packaging accessories, and designing crate structure, as needed
- Deals with all quality issues at the source.
- Uses all equipment to its utmost capabilities.
- Basic math skills are required: addition, subtraction, decimals, and basic geometry.
- Basic reading skills are required: the ability to read measurements, general information, safety rules, and company policies.
- Must be able to operate a forklift both safely and efficiently. WS will provide training.
- Basic carpentry skills will be helpful, but not required.
- Remain alert during shift. Ability to work 8 hours per day and 5 days per week during normal factory hours.
- Must be able to read a tape measure (know fractions) and a blueprint.
- Must have good communication in English with some computer, phone, email, and organizational skills.
- Some knowledge of basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
- Be able to lift to 50 lbs., and able to bend, stoop and climb, sometimes while lifting and carrying items.
- Must have a valid/current driver’s license.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to come to work regularly in the office.
