Job Summary :
Prepare materials or merchandise for assembly line production by reading provided tickets that identify materials needed;
gather prescribed materials from stock using forklifts, hand trucks, and rolling carts.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Assemble various millwork products such as exterior and interior door units, wooden patios, dutch doors, casing, and window units by reading orders.
Identify necessary modifications; operate machinery that modifies the product; prepare the product for shipment by applying casing, sleeves, stickers, etc.
Maintain a clear production area free of debris; properly store and secure work materials, hardware, tools, and equipment.
Attend all safety trainings and meetings; comply with OSHA and agency safety policies.
Perform routine maintenance on all tools used including : cleaning, oiling, checking to ensure proper functioning, calibrating machines, checking measuring tool accuracy, and notifying a supervisor of larger repairs or malfunctions.
Willing and able to be cross-trained to handle all stations along the line.
Requirements :
High School diploma or equivalent
1-2 years' related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such a forklift, chop saw, door machine, and drill Ability to frequently lift and / or move 75-100 pounds
Physical Demands : The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand;
- walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance;
stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Travel : This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
