Bellperson/Courtesy Car Driver, Part-time

As a Bellperson/Courtesy Car Driver, you will be the face of the Front Drive and the welcoming smile our guests love to see. This dual role gives you several opportunities to engage with our guests and provide helpful service throughout their stay. This individual is expected to be a hospitality professional with exceptional interpersonal skills who can comfortably communicate with guests/passengers. This position has the unique role of being the “go-to” person for our guests.

Some of your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering hotel amenities to guest rooms upon arrival
• Shuttling guests within St. Helena in the hotel's vehicle
• Act as a liaison between the Front Office and Housekeeping Operations
• Welcoming guests in a hospitable manner and retrieving/delivering luggage to guest rooms
• Assisting guests with various in-room needs to enhance their stay
• Lighting fires for guest in the rooms for our wood-burning fireplaces
• Interacting with every hotel guest in a warm and friendly manner
• Follow trip guidance from the Front Desk team, and field calls for guest pick-up requests.
• Assist guests with loading and unloading their belongings from the vehicle
• Obey California traffic laws and posted speed limits
• Drive defensively to ensure the safety of the driver, hotel guests, and the vehicle
• Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean and sanitized
• Monitor trip duration and gas consumption
• Keep an accurate log of trip destinations and times
• Manage time responsibly to ensure timely service for guests
• Accurately follow hotel/guest instructions to follow the correct route

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

• Fluency in English in both verbal and written communication.

• Able to drive various types of vehicles, stick shift, automatic, etc.

• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Meets legal age requirements for the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Previous hospitality experience is preferred. Five or more years driving a vehicle. Previous experience as a valet or working with cars is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid California Driver License and a good driving record.

PAY SCALE

The pay scale for this position is $20.00 per hour, plus tips. This is the wage rate for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
