This position involves teaching Biology to Upper School students.
Specific duties include:
- Instructing students in subject content along with designing engaging laboratory activities
- Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students’ needs including the implementation of differentiated teaching strategies
- Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
- Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress
- Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to design syllabi and final exams
- Willingness to assist in co-curricular areas
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
- Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Vernier LabQuest2, PASCO, Microsoft Office, library databases, and SmartBoard
- A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in biology from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in science or education preferred
- 3 years of successful teaching high school preferred
- Independent school experience preferred, but not required
The Teacher, Upper School Biology position is an exempt, salaried, ten month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are substantial.
