Job Summary

WorkCare is looking to add a detailed oriented Senior Proposal Writer to the team! 5-7 years of proposal or grant writing experience is required.

In collaboration with the account teams, operations, and marketing teams, the Senior Proposal Writer will manage deliverables necessary for new and existing business communication and response as it relates to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and sales/renewal generated proposals.

The Senior Proposal Writer will thrive in an entrepreneurial setting while serving as a change agent creating the foundation for how clients and brokers perceive our sales materials and response documents. The Senior Proposal Writer will be responsible for identifying unique parameters as described by the customer RFP and working collaboratively with our Operational Teams to provide creative and concise responses.

It is a role that requires both leadership skills, insight into market trends to help inform the reader of the offering, and the ability to bring those both together to marshal a successful sales story. This position will require a competitive spirit and persuasive writing skills as well as demonstrate an eagerness for the product's success.


Responsibilities

From initial receipt of an inquiry to on-time submission of a final written response, the process includes thorough review of completion of all required RFP elements and creation of free-verse and software initiated (Loopio) responses to inquiries as requested by internal and external customers. Primary responsibility for preparation/review of all proposal content, such as:

  • Reviews, writes, edits, formats, and produces medium-to-high complexity proposal documents within given deadline/timeframe.
  • Clearly defines the Scope of Work and Services offerings to the prospective customer and identifies any clarifications or exceptions to the customer inquiry.
  • Proactively reviews proposal language and responses for opportunities to use graphic design elements, further refine responses and apply lessons gleaned from the business development process.
  • Assists with updating proposal templates and maintaining information in proposal software (Loopio).
  • Research prospective client mission, vision, value, business objectives and communications.
  • Works collaboratively with account teams, operations and corporate leadership to prepare a proposal template plan that meets the objectives of the proposal requirements and timeline. Proposal preparation may include interviews and research as well as distributing inquiry documents to others involved in proposal preparation and securing their input or assistance, as required.
  • Manages multiple projects and uses effective project management tools such as proposal software, schedules, outlines, compliance matrices, and reviews.
  • Maintain and track proposal activity in CRM Software.
  • Participates and contributes to department meetings, initiatives, and/or projects.
  • Establishes sustainable relationships with internal/external partners and clients.
  • Collaborates with Director, Marketing and Communications on the creation of content and graphics for marketing collateral and educational materials.
  • Contributes to preparation of abstracts, articles, white papers, and presentations.
  • Facilitates the collection and archiving of client success stories.
  • Makes recommendations on the development of user-friendly, standardized proposal structure, and design elements.
  • Assists with the creation of customized Executive Summaries and Cover Letters.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as self- identified or by management for the efficient operation of WorkCare.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Writing or related field required.
    • 5-7 years of proposal or grant writing experience is required.
    • Healthcare experience or an understanding of the healthcare market, preferred.
    • Proposal Software experience is preferred.

    • Demonstrated work and practical experience in proposal development processes.
    • Detail-oriented, strong time management skills.
    • Outstanding written/oral communication and persuasive writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Capacity to concurrently manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
    • Ability to influence and ensure people of all levels meet required deadlines.
    • Thinks expansively by combining ideas in unique ways or making connections between disparate ideas.
    • A curiosity for product knowledge and to be perceived as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in current and new product offerings.
    • Demonstrates analytical thinking, such as: Gather and relate information from different sources to draw logical conclusions.
    • Ability to identify, clarify and communicate the exact nature of internal/external customer's problem or request and make solution recommendations.
    • Notice discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information and brings it to light.
    • Supports other outputs include business-related writing projects assigned by the Director, Marketing and Communications.
    • Proactively or by request, performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities for the optimum operation of WorkCare.
    • Willing to work extended hours as needed.
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficient in SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Physical Demands
    • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
    • Some bending and stretching could be required.
    • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
    • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
    • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
    • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Work Environment
    • Indoor, office environment conditions.
    • Work Environment must be free from background noise and distraction, noise level is acceptable, temperature is controlled. At home set up must meet all Company IT, privacy and safety requirements.

Additional Job Information

This is a full-time, remote position.

This position has a salary range of $75,000-$90,000 per year. Actual compensation offered within this range depends on factors as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
