Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 12 months of relevant experience working with individuals who are homeless and may have severe and persistent mental health and substance abuse issues
- Valid Driver's License and able to be insured under agency's vehicle is required
Additional Info:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Malheur and Harney Counties resources for disenfranchised populations.
- Approachable, friendly, and street savvy
- Must have flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours
- Work independently and in a group setting
Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with staff, clients, community partners and Managers
- Make connections with individuals experiencing homelessness, build trust and help them access the services they need so they can end their homelessness
- Understand and apply case management skills with oversight
- Ability to ask clarifying questions of clients in a one-on-one or group setting
- Use critical thinking skills and ability to take on additional tasks when needed
- Keep confidential information confidential
- Basic understanding of how the agency works and the programs offered
- Access client information utilizing a complex computer system
- Basic understanding of partner/community services available
- Attending training required to achieve knowledge base
- Complete accurate time sheet identifying each grant worked in
- Communicate directly with the Programs Manager on all relevant work situations
- Maintain detailed and confidential information in a professional manner
- Ability to engage with emphasis on communicating with clients (adults and children), some of which may not be motivated or willing, and de-escalating hostile situations
- Organize street and field-based outreach services that shall be conducted in areas where the homeless are known to congregate including but not limited to local libraries, streets, and encampments
- Cultural competency, able to establish effective professional relationships with culturally and racially diverse staff and clients
- Facilitate meetings
- Assist individuals/families with gathering housing related documentation
- Coordinate/liaise with Housing/Homeless Advocates through the process of becoming stably
housed
