Technician, Lead

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Travel Requirements: Negligible

Location: Norfolk, VA

SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Technician, Lead to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATS) on TI-18, TI-20, and TI-22, and perform testing and troubleshooting of systems down to Circuit Card Assembly (CCAs).

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Working knowledge of Enhanced Control Display Unit (ECDU) ver. TI-16,TI-18 and TI-20 operation, testing and troubleshooting.
• Follow directions on layout and assembly procedures from supervisor on design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
• Set up standard test apparatus or devise test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
• Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
• Perform mechanical assembly and integration of equipment.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• Formal electronics training from a Technical school OR Class A or B military school in electronics or communication.
• Four (4) years of an electronics apprentice program.
• Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include:
  • Electronics Repair
  • Maintenance
  • Installation
  • Checkout
• Six (6) years of experience with US Navy Navigation Systems
• Three (3) years of practical experience, to include:
  • Electronics repair
  • Installation
• Two (2) years of experience to include:
  • Supervision
  • Shop practices
• Formal electronics training to include:
  • Installation Tasks
  • Soldering
  • Cable Dressing
  • Cable Tray
  • Conduit
  • Making/Repairing Connectors
• Ability to perform the following:
  • Read and interpret documents such as schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and peers.
  • Work with mathematical concepts applicable to electronics, including Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law, SI and Metric units, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
• Preferred:
  • Electrical/Fiber Optic Connector Qualification
  • VSRA Shipyard Safety Orientation
  • OSHA 10-hour Maritime Worker Safety Course o LOTO-Shipyard (Lockout-Tagout for Shipyard Workers)
  • CABLEWAY (Cable Installation Certification)
