Location: Norfolk, VA
SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Technician, Lead to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATS) on TI-18, TI-20, and TI-22, and perform testing and troubleshooting of systems down to Circuit Card Assembly (CCAs).
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Working knowledge of Enhanced Control Display Unit (ECDU) ver. TI-16,TI-18 and TI-20 operation, testing and troubleshooting.
- Follow directions on layout and assembly procedures from supervisor on design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
- Set up standard test apparatus or devise test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
- Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
- Perform mechanical assembly and integration of equipment.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Formal electronics training from a Technical school OR Class A or B military school in electronics or communication.
- Four (4) years of an electronics apprentice program.
- Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include:
- Electronics Repair
- Maintenance
- Installation
- Checkout
- Six (6) years of experience with US Navy Navigation Systems
- Three (3) years of practical experience, to include:
- Electronics repair
- Installation
- Two (2) years of experience to include:
- Supervision
- Shop practices
- Formal electronics training to include:
- Installation Tasks
- Soldering
- Cable Dressing
- Cable Tray
- Conduit
- Making/Repairing Connectors
- Ability to perform the following:
- Read and interpret documents such as schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
- Write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and peers.
- Work with mathematical concepts applicable to electronics, including Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law, SI and Metric units, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.

- Electrical/Fiber Optic Connector Qualification
- VSRA Shipyard Safety Orientation
- OSHA 10-hour Maritime Worker Safety Course o LOTO-Shipyard (Lockout-Tagout for Shipyard Workers)
- CABLEWAY (Cable Installation Certification)
