What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at Wright?
Custom Concrete is looking for a hardworking, dedicated person to join our team as a Safety Manager. A Safety Manager is responsible for aiding the Safety Director in ensuring compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, as a Safety Manager, you will assist in the facilitation and development of our safety program.
Essential Functions
Work closely with all divisions of the organization to reinforce and grow our safety program and hold everyone accountable for setting an example.
Promote safety awareness through internal company Safety Blitzes, Toolbox Talks and other specific training initiatives.
Provide accessible safety resources and support to all personnel by maintaining a safety reference library.
Identify company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
Understand federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
Aid the Safety Director in the development of annual company safety goals.
Visit job sites to conduct safety and quality audits, including concrete analyses, proper PPE and other routine work practices to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state OSHA regulations.
Basic knowledge and understanding of general construction.
Ability to operate a smartphone and tablet and generate appropriate reports using a computer.
Work in any type of weather to include extreme heat and cold, rain, and snow.
Climb in and out of basement excavations anywhere from 6-10 feet deep using a dirt ramp or dirt stairs.
Perform daily tasks in wet and muddy conditions.
Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the safety director.
Wear appropriate clothing and PPE.
Required Education and Experience
Valid Driver’s License (must meet the requirements of the Custom Concrete Driver’s Program)
High school diploma or GED equivalent
10 years in a safety position in a construction industry
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelors in a safety science, engineering or industrial hygiene discipline, specifically in construction

OSHA Certified
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
