Our Fisheries division in Michigan is looking to hire a Logistics Coordinator. We specialize in hauling live and fresh fish and fish products along with commercial fishing and aquaculture business segments.
The Logistics Coordinator will train at our Saginaw, MI facility and will be based at our Erie, MI location once we complete a physical transition to Erie. This position would allow for a hybrid work schedule, both remote and in office. Weekly travel to Saginaw is expected until physical transition to Erie is complete.
The Logistics Coordinator will:
- Work closely with an outside contractor to receive and process orders from fresh fish customers and ensure all aspects of logistics are tracked and completed in a timely, accurate manner.
- Be responsible for dispatching drivers (shipper-carriers and independent contractors) and communicating with drivers on a daily basis.
- Utilize transportation management software to track logistics and provide reports on a regular basis.
- Communicate logistics information regularly to operations and accounting staff and maintain information on an internal network.
- Constant communication with customers would be expected to maintain excellent customer relationships and further develop customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive orders from customers and coordinate load days which occur twice a week (Sundays and Wednesdays)
- Ensure that the appropriate number of drivers, power units, and trailers are available for shipments and dispatch drivers
- Create load day manifests and ensure all bill of ladings are correct and submitted
- Maintain records related to drivers, shipments, and load volumes using transportation management software and Microsoft Suite
- Coordinate with operations manager and general manager to provide real time data on volume and revenue and make logistics decisions to ensure profitability goals are met
- Provide support on the loading dock to ensure freight is organized and loaded properly prior to being shipped
- Further develop methodology/technology to provide real time shipment information to customers and management building on existing GPS tracking software and hardware; focus on automaton and utilizing technology to increase efficiency
- Develop and maintain a maintenance log, as well as schedule required maintenance for all equipment (trailers and dock)
- All other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or associated field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products and familiarity with transportation management software.
- Familiarity with the transportation industry and DOT regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate regularly and frequently with customers and FisH2o staff.
- 1-3 years of experience in logistics/supply chain is preferred, however, motivated, driven, and capable candidates with limited experience will be considered.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Successful candidates must be motivated, inquisitive in understanding and improving currents processes, able to utilize technology, and able to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
