WSP is currently initiating a search for a District Finance Manager for our Chicago, IL office. Other locations considered included Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH and Tempe, AZ.
The District Finance Manager works closely with the District Leadership team responsible for business partnership on financial decisions. This key role will report directly to the Regional Finance Director
Your Impact
- Develops and directs the organization's financial analysis function in the applicable District.
- Management and oversight over District Project Accounting Team.
- Assesses existing and proposed District financial plans and projects as related to the organization's long-range goals and objectives.
- Manages and participates in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close for applicable District.
- Oversees the analysis of all District financial data and propose changes to ensure financial targets are met.
- Responsible for managing District annual budgeting and forecasting processes with senior management.
- Effectively reporting data and metrics to all stakeholders.
- Mentors and trains junior-level staff.
- Participate in yearly project audits as needed.
- Participates in assessment of M&A activities and due diligence processes.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- 12 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role, with some experience in project focused industry.
- Excellence in analytical techniques and modeling in tackling technical problems with a high degree of complexity.
- Strong skills in reporting, analyzing data for a business unit and communicating results and metrics in a concise manner to non-finance stakeholders.
- Prior experience in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Ability to interact with and elicit cooperation from a wide variety of stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, and staff from various levels, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
- Must have strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to the highest level of quality excellence, self-drive and innovative thinking.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel required (10%-20%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in engineering, construction or related technical consulting firm.
- Oracle systems experience.
- Experience in project based revenue recognition.
- Master's Degree, MBA, or CPA.
