WSP, an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Senior Lighting Design Lead with background in Architectural Lighting Design for our New York office. WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a balanced focus on design, sustainability, and energy performance of the built environment.
Our designers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in leading our east coast studio from business development throughout the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. Your Impact
- Project management of large projects and projects for key clients.
- Acts as project manager on projects involving multiple service lines.
- Demonstrates understanding and management of client’s expectations for project goals, budget and schedules
- Responsibility for project accounting including budget monitoring, profitability, contract negotiations and timely resolution with clients.
- Has full responsibility and accountability for maintaining a portfolio of clients.
- Develops objectives to increase business with selected clients.
- Client networking, follow up on leads, follow-up participation in marketing meetings, strategy sessions, etc.
- Promotes all of WSP’s service offerings when interacting with clients or potential clients.
- Prepares proposals and responses to RFP’s and participates at proposal presentations.
- Has full responsibility and accountability for client satisfaction and maintaining a steady level of repeat business.
- Delegates work properly to senior and non-senior staff; manages and coordinates the work.
- Ability to mentor staff on a project basis and assure continued advancement of staff from project to project. Identifying and mentoring future Project Leaders.
- Takes active role in industry events and in professional organizations.
- Leads design process and performs quality control reviews for architectural lighting systems designs
- Coordination and integration of lighting systems with other intelligent building systems
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Possess a four-year Architectural Engineering or Interior Design degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience in Architectural Lighting design
- 10 years’ experience designing high end architectural lighting solutions. Project experience submitted for consideration should include projects on which you have actively participated in the project from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
- At least 5 years’ experience in supervisory and project management capacity.
- Experience in various types and sizes of projects including healthcare, science and technology, workplace, high-rise commercial office, high-end high rise residential, hospitality, retail, sports, educational, and exterior site landscape or urban master planning.
- Strong creative skills.
- Design experience of advanced lighting control systems and sustainable lighting strategies (LEED, WELL).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.
- AutoCAD and Revit experience desired.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, and AGI32 or similar lighting software
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Extensive experience in working directly with clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Certifications (IALD, IES, CLD, LC, AIA)
- Ability to render using hand drawing skills, Photoshop, 3DS Max and/or InDesign
