Candidates for this position must have a demonstrated interest in enviromental planning and policy or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects. The ideal candidate for this position will be at ease working on a variety of tasks and projects, comfortable expressing ideas effectvely and professionally to technical and non-technical audience, receptive to feedback, and open to learning.
Your Impact
- Support technical writing and report preparation for projects subject to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
- Assist with project research, data gathering, data assessment, effects analysis, technical data interpretation, technical writing using layperson language, and occasional field work.
- Prepare and develop feasibility and supporting studies for environmental planning projects.
- Lead tasks related to data collection, research, documentation, and technical analyses.
- Support preparation of draft and final environmental studies and documentation, general task management materials, and marketing materials.
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for data analysis and map generation related to planning and environmental studies.
- Assist with public outreach and stakeholder involvement related to planning and environmental studies.
- Help to inform decision-makers and educate the public on projects that affect them.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Environmental Planning or Science, Public Policy, Urban Design, Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage resources effectively.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and deliver work products for multiple projects on time and with high quality
- Willingness and proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the environmental planning field, particularly with public agencies, notably DOTs, MPOs and transit agencies
- General knowledge of or experience with, federal, state, and local planning processes and environmental laws.
- Basic proficiency with discipline-specific software (ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, etc.).
