WSP is currently initiating a search for an Instructional Designer. This may be located in other WSP locations as indicated.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for assessing employee learning needs and designing and developing solutions to meet those needs.
The Instructional Designer uses generally accepted instructional design principles, such as ADDIE, to create, implement, and evaluate appropriate learning solutions in a variety of modalities including but not restricted to Web Based Training (WBT), Instructor Led Learning (ILT) (virtual and classroom), Electronic Performance Support (EPS) (on-line and paper-based references), and video.
The Instructional Designer works closely with the US Region’s LMS administration team and other third-party content vendors to manage the US course catalog and the user experience. Candidates must submit a portfolio of instructional design and training development work if contacted for an interview.
Your Impact
- Creates e-learning storyboards and content, and programs e-learning courses using the appropriate tools (primarily Articulate 360 tools).
- Tests or manages the testing of e-learning modules to ensure quality assurance of the training design and the technical operation of classes in the learning management system.
- Works with internal clients to evaluate employee learning & development needs. Applies a full spectrum of generally accepted instructional design principles, such as ADDIE, to create appropriate learning solutions.
Implements consistent and reliable processes for learning program development (standards, principles, measurement strategies, methodologies, and templates for uniform look and feel of all deliverables). - Leverages various learning tools to create blended learning solutions that include web-based training, online learning activities, online testing and certification, and classroom-based programs. Develops supporting materials for training events, including but not limited to marketing materials, employee/learner communications, and job aids.
- Works with Talent Development Manager to develop and track metrics that evaluate training effectiveness, transfer-of-training evaluations, and return on investment calculations, applying Kirkpatrick or equivalent methods.
- Works with the LMS administration team and third-party content vendors to maintain course catalogs; assists with creating and administering training assignments and provides limited user support.
- Assists with the administration of IACET certification.
- Stays current with best-practice and emergent technologies in the learning industry.
- Travel up to 10%.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Experience Qualifications:
- Strong Microsoft Office suite skills. Advanced level experience with MS PowerPoint and Word; working knowledge of Excel and desktop publishing software.
- Proficiency with screen-capture software and graphics editing tools (Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Snagit).
- Proficiency and experience with e-learning development tools. Articulate 360 tools required.
- Demonstrated skills and experience using adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies to develop training (instructor-led, self-study, web-based, virtual).
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while accomplishing daily tasks.
- Commitment to providing quality customer service.

- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and minimum of 3 years’ experience in instructional design and training development.
