Your Impact
- Serve as project manager or task lead for various ITS engineering projects including planning, design and system manager services.
- Work on a variety of ITS, traffic engineering, or other technology related projects as a subject matter expert.
- In addition to project work, focus on business development, marketing, and project pursuits that will help to strengthen our presence in Michigan and Ohio.
- Oversee project delivery and quality assurance/quality control on ITS engineering projects/tasks and client deliverables.
- Facilitate progress meetings with clients and stakeholder engagement sessions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to multitask effectively and to lead/manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to understand clients’ needs/requirements and identify engineering solutions to key issues.
- Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
- Mentor staff in their technical and professional development.
- Utilize engineering manuals and standards and guidelines.
- Complying with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.
- Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree.
- 7 years of experience in transportation engineering.
- Experience as a Project Manager with strong knowledge and understanding of developing and managing scope, schedule, and budget.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize problems, think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal to no supervision
- Experience with leading the development of a complete ITS Plans, Specs and Estimate package
- Experience developing ITS deployment plans and ITS Concept of Operations Report
- Excellent communication, technical, and business development skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Project
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with relevant roadway transportation and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers, planners, and DOT authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded road and transportation improvement and development projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Michigan Professional Engineer license (or the ability to obtain one within six months via reciprocity).
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
- Experience managing and delivering projects for Michigan and/or Ohio clients
- Dynamic leadership characteristics, within the company and with clients
