WSP is currently initiating a search for a Risk Manager that can be located out of Los Angeles, California.
Your Impact
- Knowledge of general risk management and project control standards and framework, (e.g. AACE International, Project Management Institute).
- Understanding of transportation engineering design requirements and project delivery processes.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability and skills to advocate the incorporation of risk management in the implementation of new systems, processes, and changes to existing systems and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture point of view.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities to establish and maintain effective working relationships based on diplomacy while maintaining independence and not swayed in judgment or course of actions.
- Ability to fulfill assigned commitments in a timely manner within established budgets while achieving quality results that prioritizes and resolves conflict when necessary. Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking skills.
- Accept and help facilitate change by understanding desired outcomes; assist project managers with developing change management strategies.

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develops and maintains project and/or program risk registers with input from project and client team members.
- Establishes qualitative and quantitative risk modeling parameters based on project cost and schedule information.
- Performs Monte Carlo simulations to set baseline and updated risk profiles, evaluating results for appropriateness.
- Works with project teams to determine appropriate contingency and schedule reserve amounts.
- Works with project teams to support on-going risk management functions, including risk identification, impact analysis (qualitative / quantitative) response planning, and monitoring / control.
- May facilitate risk management workshops, meetings, interviews and discussions both internally and with external clients.
- Prepares project and/or program risk reports as required.
- Supports project team decision making and reporting through timely information and tracking of risk register actions and critical risk identification.
- Coordinates with project/program managers, project controls staff and other project team members to quantify potential cost and schedule impacts associated with risk and change.
- Reviews project documents for consistency with project/program risk registers and resolve issues. Supports project teams in developing and implementing appropriate internal and external response plans for critical risks. Response plans may include mitigation, transfer, avoidance measures, or adjustment to budgets and schedules to appropriately accommodate risk impacts (accept).

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or relevant field
- 12 Years Relevant experience
- In lieu of education 10 Years of experience in risk management; construction management; project management; and/or contract or change management
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Controls Management background;
- Working knowledge of cost risk analysis software (@Risk or Crystal Ball etc.) and schedule risk analysis software (Primavera Risk Analysis etc.);
- Experience in conceptualizing and developing risk models using analytical methods;
- Experience in effectively reporting and communicating risk analysis outcomes to wider project team.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $85,300 - $174,200
WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
