Executive Director Job Description
The Executive Director is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to the Wyoming
Foundation for Cancer Care, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the foundation, fundraising, developing, and executing strategies to achieve the organization's goals, and ensuring that the foundation is operating efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the foundation's strategic plan and goals in collaboration with the Board of
Directors and ensure that the organization is operating in accordance with its mission and vision
- Provide strong leadership to the foundation's staff and volunteers, ensuring that they are aligned with the foundation's goals and are effectively executing their responsibilities
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including cancer treatment centers, oncologists, community organizations, and individuals affected by cancer
- Ability to relate with a diverse group of individuals or organizations
- Develop and implement fundraising plans to ensure that the foundation is able to meet its financial goals and sustain its operations
- Develop and oversee the foundation's budget and financial management, including ensuring that all financial reports are accurate and timely
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing non-profit organizations
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the foundation and represent the organization at conferences, speaking engagements, and other public events
- Champion the foundation's mission and communicate its impact to various stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the public
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure that the foundation is operating efficiently and effectively and that the Board is informed of all important developments and decisions
- Strong grant writing and grant management skills, with a proven track record of securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
- Ability to travel out of town for work purposes
- Experience in managing social media accounts and developing digital marketing strategies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing staff or volunteers
- Attention to detail and follow through on all elements of the position
- Strong fundraising skills and experience in donor relations and development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate the foundation's mission and impact effectively to a wide range of audiences
- Strong financial management skills, with experience developing and managing budgets and financial reports
- Sound judgement, curiosity, and tenacity, with the ability to make strategic decisions and solve problems effectively
- Professional and pleasant demeanor, with the ability to represent the foundation in a positive and professional manner
- Passion for the foundation's mission and the ability to serve as a champion for the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field is required.
- 5 years of experience in non-profit management, fundraising, or a related field is also required.
Candidates without a degree may substitute 10 years of relevant experience.
