Job Overview: 
The Senior Tax Reporting Specialist is responsible for assisting in complex unemployment tax compliance activities as they relate to client-level unemployment tax reporting regulatory requirements. The person in this position will remit payroll taxes, respond to inquiries regarding unemployment tax compliance and provide a second level of support for Tax Reporting Specialists. The individual in this role will also assist in ensuring client tax accounts are compliant, minimizing penalty assessments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure compliance with client unemployment tax accounts.
  • Communicate payroll tax issues orally and in written form with internal service groups and clients.
  • Work reporting team emails that may be in a queue or CRM case and manage internal/external Salesforce cases meeting or exceeding Customer Service Agreements.
  • Process and pay multi-state tax deposits timely and accurate.
  • Coordinate printing/electronic filing of payroll tax returns on behalf of clients, following up with correspondence or communication received from clients or governmental agencies.
  • Run payroll tax reports and verify information reported is accurate.
  • Analyze data at quarter/year-end for accuracy and document as required for SOX controls and organizational requirements.
  • Audit up-to-date process document library.
  • Support business continuity plan (BCP) as key contact.
  • Train new hires and current team members on tax reporting processes.
  • Adhere to all standardized procedures
  • Resolve escalated client situations
  • Lead quarter-end workflow processes.
  • Observe and report all State unemployment tax issues to Supervisor.
  • Other projects and responsibilities are at Supervisor’s discretion. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 years of payroll tax experience desired. 
  • Must have good computer skills necessary to access, retrieve and analyze information using use Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and proprietary systems

  • Excellent relational skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Strong working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.  To be evidenced by the following:

  • Oral Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

  • Written Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.  Written work product requires little if any grammar and /or spelling corrections. 
  • Diplomacy.  The ability to maintain a pleasant manner, tact, and diplomacy in challenging circumstances.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to be productive and efficient under varying volumes of workload and rapidly shifting priorities.
