The Project Manager (Junior) position facilitates company/organization small-scale initiatives from definition to closure for Product, Development and/or IT initiatives. This role ensures alignment with company goals and provides visibility into any variance to a commitment by applying project management disciplines. The position ensures decisions are made and actively monitors risks to ensure the true status of the project including obtaining a consensus of the status with all project team members. The Project Manager (Junior) position partners with all departments including but not limited to: Development, Legal, Operations, Product and Sales.

Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development and enhancement of company project management methodology, techniques, processes, and tools
- Coordinates internal resources to ensure successful execution of multiple projects
- Develops and maintains project documentation – Proactively develops RAID (Risk, Action, Issue and Decision) logs for small-scale initiatives
- Manages the planning, requirements, design, construction, testing, implementation, and maintenance of projects across a wide range of technology platforms
- Leads project teams from definition (scope and success criteria) to completion ensuring all work required is identified related to smaller company initiatives
- Identifies and tracks all dependencies
- Communicates on status and escalates to management as needed
- Actively monitors and tracks progress in project management tool(s) (Schedule, Budget and RAID)
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or related experience
- 1-2 years of experience in Project Management or project management coordination role
- Experience using requirements management tools – Jira and Confluence experience preferred
- Experience using project management tools – Smartsheet, Planview, MS Project
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
- Agile experience/knowledge of key Agile techniques – Kanban, Lean and Scrum
- Demonstrated skill in the development of technical and business processes
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle and processes
- Ability to motivate a team of experts towards achieving a common goal
- Demonstrated and highly organized skills
- Ability to resolve conflicts
- Preferred Experience and/or Education: Knowledge of horse racing is a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities/duties
- This position is empowered to take initiative with applicable duties/projects
- Requires travel up to 10% including travel outside of the local area and potentially international travel
- Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive base salary and benefits
- Base Work Location – Position can be based at the Hunt Valley, MD or Washington, PA office locations. Position classification as “Remote Work” is available.
