Sr. Technical Writer
As a technical writer at Xylem, you will develop customer-centric technical information, such as installation manuals, user guides, quick guides, and text strings for software user interfaces. The technical information is developed in English and in close cooperation with several functions within R&D and product management.
The position is based in Sundbyberg, Sweden, and you will be a part of the global technical communications team. This is an R&D team of cross-border technical information experts. The team is dedicated to create simplicity out of complexity and to provide customers with quality results through intelligent content reuse (using XML technologies and/or Markdown). The content strategy is to single-source Xylem's information content and to make it available globally in a reusable form. The development of the content is governed by common processes, tools, and controls for multiple publication outputs to multiple channels in multiple languages.
The global team consists of content delivery teams and a documentation systems team. The 10-member Sweden team comprises of one of the content delivery teams and the documentation systems team. You will be part of the content delivery team and develop technical information for a wide range of cutting-edge products. Examples include wastewater and drainage pumps, mixers for treatment plants, and monitoring and control devices.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the technical information development in new product development projects
- Analyze the technical information need
- List deliverables and contribute with time estimates to the overall time plan
- Be transparent and report to responsible parts on resource needs or risks of not delivering on time
- Independently plan and develop content for reuse and reusability in accordance with the product risk analyses, subject matter expertise, and internal content development guidelines
- Analyze existing content
- Understand illustrations and their role in the documentation
- Perform software-assisted quality review of style, grammar, and terminology during the content development phase
- Perform peer review on markup and content
- Organize SME review to ensure technical accuracy
- Deliver on time
- Contribute to the development of the content management in collaboration with the documentation systems team

Qualifications
- A degree in engineering or technical work experience
- Excellent English grammar and writing skills
- Project leader skills
- Experience and understanding of single sourcing of content in DITA XML and Component Content Management Systems (CCMS)
- Understanding or knowledge of foreign languages and basic illustration skills are advantageous
