The Role: “Xylem seeks to hire a Strategic Buyer. Responsibilities include managing supplier relations, monitoring supplier performance, and driving supplier continuous improvement and productivity activities. This position will also include a cross brand working relationship with the buyers and Senior buyers in the various Treatment brands.
Maximizing cash flow with vendor payment and stocking. Support XPD (Xylem Product Development) projects and operational activities. Contribute to Idea Generation sessions with multifunctional team members to fill-in the saving projects funnel including Value Analysis & Value Engineering footprint projects including localization, if required. Active participant in Site Procurement, continuing team dynamic and culture of continuous improvement. Travel when required.
THIS POSITION CAN BE BASED INMILWAUKEE, WI OR ZELIENOPLE, PA
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with engineering to develop new and alternative suppliers
- Work with Senior buyers to support various projects, deadlines, or daily needs
- Visit supplier sites
- Complete usage forecasts
- Contribute to Supply Chain Development of assigned key Categories with RFQ, communication, follow up, negotiations, Statement of Work, LOI, contracts etc.
- Contribute to localization and outsourcing projects; working with supplier during the transition and support the implementation at receiving site
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and support cost reduction projects including continuous improvements initiatives and follow through to completion to support department targets
- Analyze reports and investigate variances e.g. reasons or causes for cost deviation, escalate and liaise with internal stakeholders i.e. Planning, Finance and QEngineering as required
- Prepare, submit and Input capital expenditure applications (PAR) into in-house system.
- Provides purchasing support, as needed or defined by manager across all treatment brands (NAOT, Leopold & Sanitaire), utilizing multiple ERP systems.
- Active involvement in Value added/Value Engineering projects
- Establish and maintain standard cost reports. Lead the supplier standard cost resetting process (Annual Cost Roll) and work with engineering on regular quote workbook updates.
- Approve purchase requisitions, raise PO (if required)
- Project specific work across brands as assigned
- Maintain active listing of Xylem owned tooling at suppliers facilities and any changes that would occur during the year, making sure trade compliance policies, and asset valuation rules are followed.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree in Business, supply Chain Management, or technical engineering degree combined with at least ten (10) years of related procurement, inventory management, and demonstrated global supply chain experience. Technical background preferred.
