Job Summary:
Catalyx is seeking a motivated and experienced Machine Vision Engineer to join our growing engineering design and development team. As a Catalyx machine vision engineer, you'll be at the forefront of technology working closely with a cross-functional team of software, controls, automation, robotics, and mechatronic engineers to design, develop and deliver innovative machine vision solutions for our customers who are leading the industry in pharmaceutical/biotech, medical device, automotive, logistics and many more. The Catalyx machine vision engineer will be involved in all aspects of the project delivery, including participating in decisions about execution of designed solutions; front-end programming on Graphical User Interfaces (GUI); back-end programming of inspection files, creation of machine vision Artificial Intelligence (AI) Vision Algorithms, platforms, and the evaluation of machine vision solution hardware components including lighting, optics, and industrial PC components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer vision, image processing, and machine learning/AI algorithms, with proven experience delivering high-quality computer vision solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the different business divisions leads and technology verticals (serialization, general automation, machine vision, robotics, etc.) with the following:
- Design engineering systems and mechatronic components, parts, and assemblies for the automation of industrial tasks using Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software platforms such as Fusion 360, and AutoCAD
- Create, review, and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and follow instructions to perform assembly and installation of industrial automation equipment including mechanical/electrical/pneumatic components
- Create, test and/or configure embedded automation software design programs
- Install, integrate, and support validation activities of industrial automation equipment at OEM or final customer’s site
- Build technical expertise of technologies and vendor products related to machine vision, robotics, sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication to meet project requirements
- Design and develop rapid prototypes of design concepts (using additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing) for test fits, forms, and functions
- Create and maintain technical project files, including Bill of Materials (BOM), project timelines, shipping and receiving of Electromechanical components for the projects
- Create and review engineering reports documenting design details or qualification test results or validation documentation
- Maintain, build, and grow existing relationships with current clients, prospective clients, vendors, and partners in accordance with project requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines, ideally with a vision component.
- Packaging line experience. Installations, configuration, troubleshoot, censor integration, optimization of Machine Vision Systems in a Cognex environment. Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of machine vision solutions with industrial automation technologies equipment such as robotics, PLCs, and control systems.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of computer vision solutions and principles including image
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience designing and implementing automated machine vision applications using imaging components cameras, lighting, optics, and material handling equipment
- Demonstrated experience with image processing libraries such as OpenCV, Cognex, Halcon, or Keyence
- Demonstrated experience with vision software algorithm and solution development in programming
- Demonstrated experience with machine learning techniques such as supervised and unsupervised
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability and experience to work independently as well as cohesively with a team
- AIA CVP-Advanced or equivalent machine vision certification credentials
- Cognex ViDi & VisionPro experience
- Experience with relational database user interface and query software (e.g., SQL)
- Experience implementing projects in a regulated/validated GxP environment
