GE9X Staff Engineer - Turbine Airfoils

Job Description Summary The GE Aviation Senior Engineer / Technologist demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. In this role you will partner with the Turbine Airfoils value stream on cost execution of GE9X HPT hardware. The role will involve solving manufacturing and producibility challenges, while driving GE9X cost to meet business plan targets. Job Description This role will report to GE9X Lifecycle Engineering during the low-rate production for GE9X in 2023, supporting delivery of 6 engines while preparing for the greater ramp in 2024. Based on established criteria and aligned to the ramp increase in 2024 (24 engines), this role will transition to the associated Value Stream section of Services Engineering Production Technologies, providing the unique opportunity to experience NPI ramp and mature production in the same role. Roles and Responsibilities Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Includes the analysis of static (structural) and dynamic (rotordynamics, vibrations) behaviour of mechanical systems Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college Minimum of 5 years' experience in disciplinary engineering and science Desired Characteristics Master's degree Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
