Position Description
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial functions for Dark Horse Electric. Their duties include directing Accounting Managers and department operations, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting.
Responsibilities
● Completion of financial statements accurately and timely in accordance with GAAP
● Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of business.
● Supervise employees who work under the controller in preparing financial reports and managing day-to-day financial functions.
● Assist management with important financial decisions.
● Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
● Maintain general ledgers and sub ledgers (i.e., Prepaids & Accruals, Debt), oversee the GL account analysis, and prepare recurring and other journal entries.
● Manage and oversee all aspects of accounting including but not limited to, A/P, A/R, cash receipts, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close.
● Prepare monthly reporting packages for management review.
● Assist with financial or insurance audits and reviews performed by third parties to ensure accuracy and proper justification of financial records.
● Create and maintain policies and procedures to improve internal controls and documentation purposes.
● Prepare 1099 yearly forms.
Position Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, preferred CPA.
● 7-10 years of public accounting or related financial experience
● Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience
● Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate results to management.
● Expert in word processing and use of platforms such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Sheets, etc. to create clear effective reports.
● Data analysis – the ability to assess data sets and identify patterns and opportunities for improvement. Excellent analytical, problem-solving capabilities, and detail-oriented:
● Self-Driven - Being resourceful, energetic, driven, structured, and displaying a strong desire to take initiative. Strong organizational, operational, and planning skills in a sales focused environment:
● Ability to handle time constraints when deadlines are approaching.
