Position Summary:

This position ensures projects support the organization's strategic objectives while meeting project management protocols to drive improvements, decision making and delivery. The Senior Manager, PMO develops and implements PMO processes and policies, directs project management staff, and works with other leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.

Job Functions:

Project Management

  • Define the strategy and lead the design and implementation of a common project management methodology, standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
  • Formulate organizational goals and objectives as it relates to Program Management crossing multiple disciplines, fields, and functions
  • Develop detailed and train the organization on Project Planning tools including resource requirements for internal, 3rd party partners and customer resources
  • Monitor portfolio of projects to address performance issues and resolve conflicts.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to adjust processes for efficiencies
  • Foster a culture of continuous development, performance accountability, feedback, and performance coaching and client centricity.
  • Support project initiating activities such as identifying stakeholders; identifying project management approach; defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop, train, and coach project leaders throughout the company to increase the Yanmar America’s internal capacity to complete successful projects


Resource Management

  • Lead teams to drive complex programs/campaigns to completion based on scope and budget. Well-versed in production needs; considered an expert in multiple channels and understands other mediums well enough to be a strategic problem solver
  • Review all projects to determine resource and skill requirements; drive resource allocation management; ensure the right resources are cast to the need
  • Build and maintain relationships at appropriate levels to influence effective project execution.
  • Help to foster high performance teams; matrix and direct, ensuring predictable, consistent, and successful program delivery through engagement oversight
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships and strategic partnerships with external and internal key stakeholders/customers across groups and/or business units to maximize effectiveness and influence
  • Negotiate, contract and oversee 3rd party partner relationships that support Project Management


Communication & Reporting

  • Lead the execution of a PMO governance, reporting, and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organizational project activity and associated key metrics to executive leadership
  • Establish a mechanism to track a set of metrics that demonstrate improved business outcomes, resulting from the adoption of a common framework/ competency
  • Establish and implement processes to manage interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure information relating to project deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and the project team
  • Establish and ensure compliance to project reporting and monitoring standards, procedures and guidelines
  • Communicate to Executive Management and project stakeholders regarding project status including prioritization, risks and mitigation plans to support decision making
  • Drive communication and cultural change efforts to integrate program and project management elements into the broader Yanmar America culture


Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Oversee and manage a team of Project Management experts.
  • Oversee and manage cross functional project teams including internal staff, 3rd Party Partners, and Customer team members


Critical Interfaces:

  • Executive Staff
  • All internal department managers
  • Subject Matter Experts, internally and external to company


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent project management and process improvement skills
  • Proactive and effective problem-solving capabilities to handle potentially complex problems and resolve conflicts
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), persuasion, and negotiation skills to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel up to executive level both internally and externally
  • Experience with significant cultural, organizational, and business process change efforts
  • Financial Management Skills
  • Strong business acumen and proven ability to implement strategic concepts
  • Proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships with peers
  • Strong quantitative/qualitative analysis skills specifically with business and functional requirements development
  • Demonstrated ability to solve large-scale, complex problems and lead through ambiguity
  • Proficient in MS Office Products including Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio and Word
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day in a plant/office setting. Must be able to navigate all areas of the building and facility as needed. May occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds in an office, customer or similar setting. Must be aware of surrounding


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, Computer Science, or equivalent; Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred
  • 8 years of project management experience with at least 3 years of program or engagement management experience delivering large complex programs (portfolio of projects) with multiple project tracks.
  • 3 years of direct management and leadership experience
  • Project/Program Management Certification from PMI preferred
  • This position is full time and based in Adairsville, GA
