Summary/General Description
YAP- Workforce Innovations and Opportunity Act Title 1 services specializes in employment, education, and training services for youth 16-24 years old. The role of the career coach assists participants in identifying personal goals, developing leadership skills and planning career moves. Duties include identifying and alleviating barriers youth may have to employment, education and training; Mentoring and preparing youth populations in areas of employment and training; Assisting with opportunities, providing feedback on resumes or cover letters and strategizing for career/employment obtainment and advancement. Career Coaches prepare and facilitate work readiness and life skills workshops, network and maintain relationships to actively promote career and education opportunities.
Career Coaches will provide intensive mentoring, comprehensive career coaching, and case management and facilitate employment and training services aligned to each participant’s needs, interest, and abilities. Career Coaches must be able to explain the employment and training services as related to youth populations, including specified populations noted below.
Career Coaches provide case management to 60 youth ranging from 16-24 years old. Ability to track, monitor, and maintain data on caseload in accepted databases is required.
Workforce Development knowledge is preferred
Case Management experience preferred
Experience working with the at-risk youth populations preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assisting with educational and occupational choices
2. Assessing interests, abilities, and aptitudes
3. Evaluating educational and occupational backgrounds
4. Addressing education and/or occupational skills gaps
5. Advising about occupational training and/or educational programs needed for careers
6. Addressing barriers related to employability (i.e. soft skills, technical skills, social skills, behavioral skills, etc.)
7. Locating resources and sources of career information
8. Identifying training and employment opportunities
9. Recognizing any needs for additional services.
10. Carry a higher caseload of client that traditional Career Coaches
11. Provide mentorship and support to Career Coaches
Other Essential Functions of job but not limited too
1. Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with treatment staff and other professional agencies
2. Demonstrate courteous, cooperative, and respectful behavioral during interaction with clients, family members and professional staff.
3. Adhere to all YAP, Inc. Personnel Policies, the YAP, Inc. Code of Conduct and the Integrity
Compliance plan.
4. Follow YAP, Inc.’s Special Incident reporting procedures and provide the Program Director with information on potential issues of safety and ethical/confidentiality dilemmas
5. Perform all duties in a timely and cost-effective manner
6. Develop knowledge of YAP, Inc.’s referring agencies and third party payers’ contracts and requirements and applicable governmental agencies’ rules and regulation are adhered to and met in the performance of job duties
7. Perform other related duties as required.
8. Provide transportation as necessary to comply with the case plan
Education Requirements including License Requirements
Associate degree in Human Services is preferred
Work/ Training Experience Requirements
1. Experience working with youth reentry special populations including: homeless, undereducated, human trafficking, foster, etc.) and experience working in workforce development

YAP, Inc.’s policy, supported by governmental regulations, requires that Program Directors provide Direct Service Staff with at least 20 hours of paid training annually.
