Director of Youth Impact
Under the general direction of the Quality Compliance Director works for the YMCA of Greater Hartford and is responsible for the quality and delivery of the Youth Development & Leadership programs. While also supporting the delivery of Child Care and Camp. Director Of Youth Programs is responsible for building a strong program team and implementing the program model to create the best learning environment for our scholars.
Key Responsibilities:
Serves as the key team lead for all pertinent Youth Development and Leadership Programs.- Initiate the pre-planning process of the following programs:
- Bell excl
- The Youth Leadership: LIT/CIT
- Youth in Gov.
- Leaders club.
- Ensures all youth programs meet established goals of YMCA youth programming and include values, positive lifestyle development, and knowledge of skills education and provide significant role models and examples for children to pattern.
- Monitors Youth Development and Leadership programs through regular visitation and communication of sites.
- Cultivate relationships with community leaders, and employers to develop quality programs that are consistent with the vision and values.
- Identify collaborative efforts to utilize facilities and services with local schools and organizations.
- Ensure branches work closely with local school systems, administrators, principals, and teachers to assure smooth operations of program services, utilization of resources and proper communication.
- Attend all branch and Metropolitan meetings as assigned.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of Department of Public Health, Department of Children and Families, YMCA of Greater Hartford procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and branch regulations.
2. Knowledge of Accreditation Standards to obtain and maintain in each of the school age, preschool, and camp sites.
3. Have very strong supervisory, interpersonal and organization skills.
4. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
5. Ensures all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including emergency procedures, accidents, personnel.
6. Bachelor's degree required, with a Master's in Education or other related discipline preferred.
7. Passion and commitment to improving the quality of education for children living in under resourced communities.
8. Experience working with youth grades k-12.
9. Strong leadership skills with experience in managing different levels of staff.
10.Ability to build effective working relationships with parents, administrators, staff and scholars.
11.Excellent written and oral communication skills and organization skills.
12.Strong technical skills, with ability to learn new programs quickly as needed.
13.Belief and commitment to the Y's mission and values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
- Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
- Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).
- Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations (i.e. crying upset child, upset parent, or upset staff).
- Ability to be flexible and willing to adjust to change.
- Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
- Ability to lift young children and objects (food baskets and supplies) up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to develop and foster cooperative relationships.
- Ability to use hands, fingers, and arms as well as be able to speak and hear.
- Ability to move from program site to branch or site to site, and is required to enter all YMCA environments including, program space, buses, schools, pools, and program area.
- Should have good physical and mental health, and have the energy and emotional stability necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions.
Salary : $50,274 - $60,000
