The YMCA of Southern Nevada is currently seeking enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated candidates for the following position:

SPORTS CONDITIONING COACH

Under the general direction of the Health and Wellness Director, the position’s primary goal is to establish and maintain a strength and conditioning program for various sports, with the three major goals; improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Instructs sports program participants on safe exercise techniques including, but not limited to warm-up and stretching progression, aerobic conditioning, strength training, proper use of Center equipment and workout progression.
2. Instructor must be results driven and have strong interactions with clients.
3. Strong skills in leading and coaching youth and acting as a role model. Experience working with youth is preferred. 
4. Self-motivated and willing to promote program to potential clients.
5. Demonstrates safe and effective use of all Center equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
6. Conducts individual and group member assessments within the allotted time frames and in accordance with guidelines presented.
7. Create innovate sports curriculum for all clients with a goal of enhancing sports performance.
8. Maintains appropriate record keeping. I.e. Workout logs and sports curriculums.
9. Clears area of safety hazards. Set up, put away all equipment and materials needed and reports any problems or needs to Health and Wellness Director.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least one year of related experience and/or training.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Personal Trainer Certification
• Have a certification through NSCA – CSCS or NASM - PES
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Strong skills in: Communication, leadership, judgement, creativity
• Working knowledge of YMCA policy and organization.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly  in  an emergency situation.
• Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate management techniques.
