The Controller plays a pivotal role in our organization, responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Controller supervises the accounting staff and manages the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed promptly. This position addresses tight deadlines and many accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of five years of prior experience as an Accounting Manager.
- Certified Public Accountant with public accounting experience in auditing.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong time management skills.
- Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Direct the day-to-day actions of the entire accounting department.
- Ensure an accurate month-end and year-end close.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Oversee all accounts payable, payroll processing, and general accounting functions.
- Respond to the CFO and other Officers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
- Create and sustain fiscal records and other files to accurately document transactions.
- Provide financial oversite for funds related to grant projects and restricted contributions.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate the year-end close process with external auditors. Perform Accounting research and recommend accounting treatment per U.S. GAAP based on the business transaction.
- Prepare and submit annual reporting to YUSA.
- Assist in the annual United Way Funding request application.
- Assist the CFO with the annual budget preparation.
- Perform special projects or assume other duties assigned by the CFO.
