What are the responsibilities and job description for the Branch Director position at YMCA?
The Branch Director is primarily responsible for all facets of the branch operations including but not limited to volunteer & staff development, community relations and collaborations, programming, grant writing and fundraising; all under the direction of the Senior Program Director, and in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors of the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA. As a branch that is considered a 'Y without walls,' it is programmatic based and it will be up to the Branch Director to work in concert with the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA leadership team but will also be required to work independently.
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent (preferred)
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
- At least three years of experience supervising childcare programs/center and/or summer day camp
- Ability to direct operations through volunteer development, staff supervision, development and monitor branch budget, fundraising & events, marketing and public relations, and program development
- Experience in managing and developing volunteers along with the ability to recruit and attain community leaders for needed roles
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
- Current certification in CPR and AED; complete trainings in Child Abuse Prevention and Blood Borne Pathogens within 60 days of hire
- Development of the branch advisory board and committees
- Actively lead the branch annual development efforts that include but are not limited to special events, grant funding, and annual campaign objectives
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, schools and governmental entities
- Oversee the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff
- Provide hours of in-service time in after school HOST Program, Summer Camp and other program and activities as needed
- Develop, manage, and monitor the branch operating budget and work to meet or exceed targets budgeted
- Lead strategic planning efforts and work with organizational leadership to develop the annual operating plan of the branch
- Facilitate high-quality relationship-based participant engagement strategies
- Model relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, participants, and the community
- Foster a climate of innovation to develop participant-focused programs that support the Y mission, goals, and strategies
- Direct branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community
- Perform other duties as assigned
