What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Volunteer Engagement position at YMCA?
The Director of Volunteer Engagement will intentionally foster a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while recruiting, placing, and tracking volunteers throughout the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati.
Starting salary is $40,000/year. Benefits for FT employees include free family membership, health & dental insurance, time-off benefits, program discounts, and optional retirement savings plan.
- Bachelor degree plus two or more years of experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
- YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
- Proven ability to relate effectively and build relationships to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills; training & presentation skills; interpersonal & analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks/people simultaneously; demonstrates proactive approach to problem-solving, resourceful and demonstrates the highest level of customer/client service and response.
- Ability to use typical business software and office equipment plus ability to learn and utilize volunteer software. Make recommendations for additional software tools.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends; ability to provide transportation to/from event locations.
- Assist Senior Director & YMCA branches to identify ongoing needs for volunteers. Assist in developing strategies for volunteer recruitment & placement.
- Assist in recruiting diverse volunteer pools across multiple dimensions of diversity to engage in various volunteer opportunities. Utilize best practices and follow association standards by using current association volunteer software to process, screen and onboard volunteers. Develop volunteers for success through ongoing training and communication. Regularly and consistently engage volunteers for future opportunities. Recognize volunteer contributions.
- Assist in identifying & building long-term relationships with internal and/or external partners or key stakeholders to support programs, projects and/or events by recruiting and retaining volunteers.
- Assist in supervision of volunteers and maintain volunteer confidential files, track and report volunteer hours, and generate regular reports or as requested.
- Attend college and corporate volunteer fairs and post opportunities to websites to help with volunteer recruitment efforts.
