What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director position at YMCA?
Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director is responsible for administering the total operation of the YMCA Camp Bernie Branch, with a budget size of $1.8 million. The Executive Director oversees the management of programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development and collaborations with the community agencies in meeting the needs of its members and program participants.
The Branch Executive Director is responsible for all the overall success of the branch and its operating units. This position is primarily concerned with ensuring quality programs and building positive long-term relationships with members. This branch is viewed as a resource to the total Association as it strives to meet its Mission and goals.
BA/BS degree in related field, minimum of eight years YMCA professional work experience or equivalent in a related field. Senior director certification is preferred. Background must include strong skills in human relations, budgeting, sound fiscal management, program management, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relations and staff supervision.
1. Develop, manage, and monitor the branch-operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
2. Coordinate the development and management of branch programs to meet the needs to the community and achieve association-operating objectives.
3. Ensure outstanding customer/member service and experience.
4. Implement character development and the values for caring, honest, respect, and responsibility in all programs and all aspects of the branch operations.
5. Direct staff and volunteers in the development of program and membership enrollment strategies.
6. Coordinate staff and volunteer development, which includes recruitment, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, termination, etc.
7. Direct staff leadership of all program departments including supervision of office manager.
8. Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with community agencies.
9. Coordinate public relations and marketing efforts for all operations of the branch through the Marketing Director.
10. Prepare statistical, analytical and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the branch as needed.
11. Coordinate management and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
12. Develop and maintain relationships with the current and potential funding sources, both private and public
13. Serve as a member of YMCA Board Committee and association activities as assigned further.
