What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Director position at YMCA?
The Gymnastics Director will be responsible for the leadership of the gymnastics department and staff in developing the best-in-class gymnastics programming to include a full range of gymnastics classes, including recreational gymnastics, private lessons, camps and YMCA competitive gymnastics/tumbling and trampoline teams. Under the direction of the Branch Director and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Gymnastics Director must have a commitment to the YMCA and its core values of: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Critical to the success of this position is the ability to provide exceptional leadership and involvement and engagement initiatives to children and families through gymnastics programming.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field or equivalent work experience.
- USAG/USTA Certification.
- 5 Years coaching & teaching experience in competitive-level gymnastics.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in program development
- Demonstrated skills in staff and volunteer development and the ability to project enthusiasm to participants.
- Must possess highly effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and perform job duties with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven experience in budget and fiscal management.
- Ability to work independently and a willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certified or within 30 days of hire.
- Completion of YMCA team leader certification preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Directs and supervises recreational gymnastics and competitive team staff and activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Schedule includes evenings and weekends, time teaching classes, and willingness to cover shifts if needed.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establishes new gymnastics activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Creates and schedules recreational gymnastics classes and competitive team practices and meets.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, and may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for gymnastics activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings upon request.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program
