What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Director position at YMCA?
Under the guidance of the Branch Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for the development, organization, delivery of high-quality YMCA program(s) to the membership, program participants and community.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or equivalent work experience will be considered. YMCA program-specific certifications preferred.
- Experience: One to two years related experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of development and implementation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of parents, coaches, and the general public.
- Personal Skills: Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Each staff member is expected to recognize, support, and motivate Health Seekers of all ages. Facilitate environments in which members of all ages can build supportive, caring relationships with other members and staff.
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of YMCA members and the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establish new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assist with Program Committee meetings
- Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation
in program. - Promote and incorporate the YMCA four core values and character development model in to all program activities.
- Attend Leadership Team Meetings
