Yokogawa is currently searching for a Senior Estimator.

Yokogawa Corporation of America, a leading provider of Industrial Automation solutions, is seeking a Senior Estimator to support Services, located in our Sugar Land, Texas (Houston) office. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the activities associated with completion of assigned Analytical Systems and/or Services proposal packages - including RFQ and specification review and compliance, product selection, architecture, cost estimation, and risk analysis - to achieve the company's business objective of providing accurate and timely cost-based estimates and accompanying proposals. Requires coordination of technical and commercial design activities with the appropriate sales personnel, engineering resources, technical support consultants, project management personnel, and other proposal dept members. The key objective is to provide internal and external customers with a quality proposal document backed by an accurate cost estimate.

DUTIES/RESULTS

  • Reviews customer technical and commercial specifications and determining the adequacy of the supplied information to develop the requested deliverable.
  • Executes and manages the production of high quality cost estimates, quotations, and proposals for small to large scale projects as well as related service offerings.
  • Estimates all Yokogawa costs as well as identifying and estimating risk costs associated with project execution.
  • Applies company standards and solutions to meet customer requirements. Requires that the employee stay current on Yokogawa technical publications.
  • Attends customer pre-bid meetings, along with Sales, and provide technical and commercial support at customer proposal review meetings.
  • Provides various proposals including services, advanced solutions, migration, expansion, add-on; budgetary, T&M, firm fixed bid; working from defined Scope of Work, but with or without a formal RFQ.
  • Designs the proposal response, schedule all activities and coordinate the completion of those activities to meet the customer's deadline and meet company standards.
  • Coordinates proposal, technical and commercial design activities with the appropriate sales personnel, legal counsel, technical support consultants, project and application engineering personnel and inside proposal and clerical staff.
  • Prepares complete proposal packages including the PA-1 (Price Approval Form) for review by Operations Management for all assigned quotes and proposals, including presentation of these materials to Management in the Proposal Review Meeting.
  • Reviews all quotes and technical responses for accuracy and completeness, including requesting technical review by Operations resources as required.
  • Verifies PO received and prepares PA1 for Booking by Operations and Finance as assigned.
  • Participate in the Proposal Turnover to Projects kickoff meeting as the overall representative of the proposal department.
  • Maintain all proposal standard literature, write and edit standard and custom proposals.
  • Follows all proposal procedures.
  • Creates and modifies estimation tools as assigned - including incorporating lessons learned from previous proposals/projects and presenting revised tools to management and Proposal Dept.
  • Works with the Proposal Dept Manager to provide uncompromised quality to all work delivered. Has the authority and responsibility to question the work processes at any time when it is believed that quality or accuracy is being compromised.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

Working knowledge of various analyzers in process automation, including chemistry, process flow, pressure, engineering and integration. Basic understanding of full product line of process analyzers. Understanding of sales / marketing procedures, including both technical and commercial proposal presentation. Experience with inter-departmental functions and relationship with regional areas.

Consistently demonstrates the ability to plan and execute, establish procedures, document, and set priorities.

Must have the ability to work independently, work well under deadline pressure, and use judgment in any phase of the proposal process. Capability to accurately interpret customer specifications and needs and apply the optimum technical solution using system's products.

Advanced Proficiency in software programs such as PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

Must be able to travel up to 20% in support of technical sales, including some international travel.

Education: BA or BS in Engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience.

Prior Experience: 8 years industrial experience with a minimum of 6 years experience in analyzer systems sales, proposals or engineering, and minimum 2 years in task management or leadership role. Good technical knowledge of analyzer systems in process automation, including process flow, chemistry, engineering and integration, and project execution. Knowledgeable in management including strong leadership, strategy making and execution, operational processes and procedures, cross communication and coordination skills.
