JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Foundations for Success/ Health Care Instructor

Reports to: Next Step Coordinator/Community Relations Mgr.

Supervises: Volunteers

Status: Part-time, hours vary, Non-Exempt

Responsibilities: The Next Step Foundations for Success Instructor will teach foundational study skills, medical terminology, medical math, and anatomy & physiology, to help students move into health care courses offered through YCLC and York County School of Technology as well as other local schools. Instructor will assess the student’s mastery of these skills.

Duties:

  • Teach health care career students in a multi-level classroom.
  • Update and Implement the current curriculum and the goals of YCLC, developing lesson plans as necessary.
  • The instructor should formatively assess and evaluate student needs, participation, attendance, and advise Next Step Coordinator and Community Relations Mgr. of any areas of concern that may need to be addressed.
  • Keep all class records for students, prepare reports as requested, submit material requests to the Next Step Coordinator.
  • Maintain copies of student’s work.
  • Act as a liaison with the teaching site, if necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work remotely using online platforms to deliver instruction if necessary. This requires a PC/laptop/tablet with audio/video capability, and internet.
  • Work with Next Step Coordinator to maintain book and material inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree required
    2. Teaching experience required (2 )
    3. Experience in a medical background preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work environment is in a classroom setting. May sit, stand, and walk for varying periods of time. Must be able to walk, climb stairs, and carry items weighing up to 30#. Manual dexterity necessary using hands and arms.

ESL Workplace Instructor Description

Title: English as a Second Language (ESL) Workplace Instructor

Reports to: Adult Program Manager

Status: Part-time (hours vary per contract), Non-Exempt

Responsibilities: Teach an ESL class for adults at a work site. Curriculum is developed through a collaboration of the contractor’s management team, ESL Coordinator, and Adult Program Manager.

Duties:

  • Teach ESL workplace topics to adult learners.
  • Develop lesson plans/curriculum as needed (must be submitted before instruction at the workplace begins).
  • Assess and evaluate the adult students.
  • Keep all class records for students, prepare reports, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain copies of students’ work.
  • Act as a liaison with the teaching site, if necessary.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer classroom aides, as necessary.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Multi-cultural experience required.
  • Teaching experience required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is helpful.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Part Time Positions with instruction both in classroom and remote learning.

ESL Instructor – Teach ESL to adult learners using approved curriculum. Assess and evaluate students and communicate closely with ESL Department. Develop lesson plans and maintain attendance and class records. Must be available to teach both day and evening classes.
