Construction Laborer

Job Description:

Yorkshire Industries is a heavy civil construction company seeking construction workers with experience in paving, sealcoating, striping, and cracksealing to join our team for a temporary, full time role to support an active project at a military Air Base. As a construction worker, you will be responsible for a range of duties associated with paving, sealcoating, striping, and cracksealing.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surfaces for paving, sealcoating, striping, and cracksealing by cleaning, repairing, and patching as needed. This includes using hand tools and equipment to remove debris, dirt, and old pavement or coatings, and filling in cracks and potholes as needed.

• Operate construction equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and skid steers to prepare and move materials. This includes transporting materials to job sites, loading and unloading equipment and supplies, and operating heavy machinery to excavate, level, and grade surfaces.

• Spread and level asphalt, tar, concrete, and other materials used in paving, sealcoating, stripi, and cracksealing. This includes using tools such as shovels, rakes, and tampers to ensure a smooth and level surface for the final product.

• Operate and maintain paving, sealcoating, and cracksealing equipment, such as pavers, rollers, and sealcoating machines. This includes setting up and adjusting equipment, monitoring its performance, and conducting routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal operation.

• Apply sealcoat and stripe parking lots, driveways, and roadways. This includes applying sealcoat using a sprayer or squeegee to protect the pavement from water and weather damage, and using specialized equipment to stripe and mark parking lots and roadways according to specifications.

• Repair cracks and potholes in paved surfaces. This includes using cracksealing equipment and materials to fill in and repair cracks, and using patching materials to repair potholes and other surface damage.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• 2 years of experience in paving, sealcoating, striping, and cracksealing.

• Must be able to operate construction equipment and tools. This includes experience with backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, and other heavy machinery, as well as hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and tampers.

• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, following safety protocols and guidelines, and maintaining a safe and organized work area.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. This includes working outdoors in various weather conditions, such as high temperatures, rain, and cold weather, and adapting to changing weather conditions as needed.

• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. This includes having a clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites and equipment yards.
