The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking to recruit a Pool Manager to oversee the staff and ensure the safety of visitors to our aquatic facilities. The Pool Manager will ensure quality performance of all aquatic safety assistants and all lifeguards.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Aquatic Director, this position is responsible for the welfare of all members utilizing the pools and adjacent areas. The Pool Manager ensures an atmosphere of discipline, friendliness, and safety within the framework of YMCA of the Pikes Peak Regions Aquatics programs. They must present themselves in an exemplary manner and have a positive, enthusiastic attitude about the YMCA. The Pool Manager will directly oversee Lifeguards, Shift Supervisors, Swim Instructors, and Check-In staff to ensure the daily operations of the pool facilities run smoothly and efficiently. The Pool Manager is the front-line aquatics leadership who ensures we provide safe, clean, family friendly aquatic facilities for YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region members, their guests, and visitors to swim, play, and have fun.


POOL MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:

  • 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent (20 years of age if the position is at a full facility YMCA-DTC, SEC, Tri-Lakes, BFC, The Farm, Cordera, Banning Lewis Ranch House)
  • 2 years’ experience as a lifeguard and 1 year of supervisory and/or leadership opportunities.
  • Current YMCA lifeguard and swim instructor certification
  • YMCA Lifeguard instructor - or must be obtained within 9 months of hire.
  • YMCA of the USA Lifeguard supervisor course
  • Certified Pool Operator Certified preferred
  • Must demonstrate qualities of a leader and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly to an emergency

POOL MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Ensure quality performance of all aquatic safety assistants and all lifeguards.
  • Responsible for scheduling of all pool staff.
  • Assist aquatic director, if needed, with scheduling or other duties, assuring lifeguard shifts complement the swim lessons and special events calendar
  • Evaluate and document aquatics staff performance and provide feedback to staff in which they supervise.
  • Conduct aquatics orientation with all new employees.
  • Responsible for daily pump room / pool chemical inspections - reporting any issues or abnormalities to Aquatics Director
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, organizational skills, prioritizing abilities, and good communication skills - verbal and written
  • Listens and expresses ideas effectively and in a manner that reflects a true understanding of the needs of the audience
  • Employs influence strategies that engage, inspire, and build commitment to position and overall YMCA goals
  • Integrates logic, intuition, and sound judgment to analyze information to identify greatest opportunities, make sound decisions, and solve problems
  • Implement and follow aquatics SOP’s and safety plan - provide any feedback to aquatics director and be the leader in implementing changes.
  • Conduct any required and necessary disciplinary actions for staff
  • Exhibit a professional attitude at all times, which includes wearing appropriate staff uniforms
  • Attend all staff meetings for department and center.
