The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is looking for great candidates to join our new E-Care Staff this fall to assist working parents that are unable to stay home with their children. In these uncertain times, the YMCA is needed now more than ever, and we need you!
Under the direct supervision of the Youth & Family Director, or branch designate, and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Jr. E-Camp program staff will be directly responsible for the safety, supervision, leadership and guidance for a group of youth participants during program. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall virtual learning experience. Provides a quality experience to children that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Builds and maintain a positive environment for all students.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children
- Maintain attendance records
- Follow all school schedules set forth and ensure each student attends their virtual on-line class time.
- Implement and execute lesson plans for scheduled program times, which include provisions for safe program opportunities and student’s ages and ability differences
- Incorporate weekly themes
- Present curriculum: Social Emotional Learning, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Literacy and supplemental educational and enrichment support and activities.
- Facilitate positive behavior management techniques and trauma informed approaches.
- Assist in providing a positive learning experience for all students
- Assist with group swim time and swim with your group (proper dress always required0
- Maintain all program equipment in good order
- Report all program changes and equipment needs to Leadership staff.
- Models and facilitates relationship-building skills in all interactions and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, school staff and other YMCA staff.
- Able to work between 7am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
- Assists with cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and equipment.
- Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years or older
- Interest in working with children and youth, exercising sound emotional maturity, moral character, judgement, integrity and leadership capability.
- Must meet one of these criteria: (i) are currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent; (ii) have at least a high school diploma, GED, or Licensing approved equivalent; (iii) have completed 10th grade and are still in the process of obtaining a GED for a period not to exceed 36 months from employment.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
- Safety certifications and required trainings upon hire in accordance with required standards.
- Experience and training related to youth development programs.
Physical requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Requires bending, pulling, crouching, leaning, kneeling, walking, pushing, climbing, and jumping.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff, and parents.
- Visual and auditory ability to supervise and respond to critical situations with children.
- Must be able to move freely and quickly through the facility and alternate program locations including indoor and outdoor space.
