We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information and to prepare accurate and timely financial reports. This is a very exciting role that will help you grow whether you are beginning or are advanced in your career.


When you join our Development Team, you will:

  • Maintain a portfolio of 40-50 mid-level corporate and foundation donors and prospects; build and maintain relationships with new and existing donors
  • Conduct extensive and ongoing prospect research (online, databases, clearinghouses, professional literature, and donor prospecting directories) of current and prospective corporate and foundation donors to identify viable funding opportunities that align with Youth Guidance’s programs
  • Complete all stages of funding proposal development including confirming project/program objectives, contacting the funding partner for clarification of guidelines, writing letters of inquiry, online applications, and formal proposals and organizing site visits
  • Proofread and edit text for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and concise and easy to understand language that effectively presents the agency’s mission and communicates a compelling case for support
  • Track deliverable action dates and progress toward opportunities in the submission pipeline utilizing Raiser’s Edge
  • Provide support to Senior Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations and Director of External Affairs in meeting and proposal preparation and follow-through
  • Work with internal stakeholders in the development of proposals and budgets
  • Monitor progress of funding proposals after submission to ensure that all required procedures and requirements are being met per the grant agreement
  • Serve as liaison/point of contact with current and prospective funding partners through emails, personal visits, phone calls, and personalized acknowledgements to achieve continued donor engagement
  • Strengthen corporate volunteer engagement through coordination with Youth Guidance programs and corporate partners, event planning, and stewardship activities
  • Cultivate new private sector champions by arranging site visits and other engagement opportunities with corporate leaders and community affairs staff 
  • Perform other duties as assigned


You've Been Prepared for Greatness:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience and demonstrated track record in corporate, foundation, government or community relations
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising, writing and research, preferred

  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion and humor necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit, along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint and database management systems, Raiser’s Edge preferred)
