Yusen Terminals LLC (“YTI”, based in Terminal Island (Los Angeles), CA, is a joint venture of NYK Line and Macquarie Infrastructure Partners III, with headquarters’ office in Tokyo, Japan and Sydney, Australia, respectively.

YTI operates a state-of-the-art marine container terminal in the Port of Los Angeles. YTI was established in 1991 at the Port’s Berths 212-218. The services we provide are stevedoring and terminal operations for The Alliance (ONE, Hapag Lloyd, HMM and Yang Ming) as well as slot chartering from Evergreen, CMA-CGM, APL, COSCO and OOCL. As a full-service marine terminal, YTI provides modern technology, equipment, on-dock rail, storage facilities and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP®). YTI’s highly experienced management team are dedicated to efficient cargo handling with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction. We currently operate eleven, Post Panamax Gantry cranes including six, state-of-the-art Super Post Panamax Gantry cranes. Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, the General Manager, IT will be a key business partner for the Chief Strategy Officer to develop, plan, and implement information technology (IT) strategies that satisfy YTI’s business needs, deliver optimal financial return on our expenses, and maintains utmost security while being aligned with overall corporate IT strategies and policies. This role will provide leadership and tactical support to YTI’s organization and work more broadly with leaders throughout YTI departments who will deliver business initiatives to address YTI most important opportunities and challenges. GM, IT will also drive tracking and reporting against key IT CAPEX and OPEX initiatives to promote visibility, transparency, and accountability in project performance and eventually drive value delivery.

The position will have one direct management responsibility for IT Manager.

What you will do:

• 
  Ensure complete alignment with Yusen Terminals’ safety program and instill a culture of compliance with IT team including vendors.
• Responsible to identify, present and execute IT CAPEX initiatives including hardware and software on the terminal as well as YTI finance office in Nashville.
• Responsible for YTI’s annual budget under IT cost center and make sure IT expenses remain in line with YTI’s annual budget by tracking and managing IT expenses in an optimal manner throughout the year.
• Maintain keen attention to YTI system integration of various software and hardware and perform the periodic and preventive measures to eliminate any potential risks of system slow down or shut down for the extended time resulting in any gate closure or operational shutdown.
• Liaison with customer service department and operations team to identify, develop and implement IT solutions in a timely manner to facilitate our corrective and preventive actions to address exceptions, service irregularity and concerns in our internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaison with external stakeholders and regulatory entities to handle data submission as well as date exchange with such groups aligned with YTI’s strategic business goals and policies.
• Responsible to develop and implement IT policies and procedures in YTI to make sure YTI’s business activities are up to date in accordance with current cyber security and safety standard and perform periodic cyber security update
• Monitors technology performance of all supporting software and hardware to ensure service level of IT contracts are always achieved and manages corrective actions as needed with technology vendors.
• Provide supports for YTI operations team to implement projects of operational excellence to promote efficiency and elevate safety and operational standards to YTI strategic goals
• Responsible for ensuring YTI’s compliance with all corporate systems and security policies.
• Perform other job duties as required

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology preferred
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in an IT organization required
• Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments preferred
• Experience with Navis SPARCS, Express and N4 Terminal Operating System products preferred
• Experience with developing and implementing corporate data warehouse and business intelligence tool preferred
• Experience with EDI configuration and API setup with customers and vendors preferred
• Experience with OCR, DGPS and Gate technologies a plus
• Experience managing technology vendor's performance against SLAs
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Communication skills to interact with both stakeholders and team members
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple teams at once to meet deadlines
