Job Summary
As a Domestic Violence Hotline Operator, you will be the initial point of contact for domestic violence victims seeking guidance and support. This role plays a crucial part in providing housing information, assistance, and reassurance to clients, ensuring they receive the help they need.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Part time Option - Monday - Thursday, 11 pm - 7 am EST (Night Shift)
Full Time Option - Monday - Thursday, 11 pm - 7 am EST (Night Shift) and Saturday 7 am - 3pm (1 Day Shift)
FLSA Category: Non-Exempt
Essential Duties
- Provide housing information, support, assurance, and guidance to clients.
- Maintain knowledge of local social services, rental procedures, tenant rights, and responsibilities.
- Attend YWCA staff meetings and mandatory training.
- Cover Shelter Hotline or Front Desk reception as needed.
- Document all hotline calls received.
- Provide transportation to clients for appointments as necessary.
- Maintain a clean reception area and perform light cleaning of the shelter to ensure a well-maintained program space.
- Communicate client needs with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED; an associate degree in human services or related field is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet use, and database management.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of desk work and computer use.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with moving furniture during apartment and room turnovers.
- Capability to climb stairs.
