Job Title: School Age Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)
Compensation: $15.00/hr
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:00AM-5:30PM, with an on-site lunch break of 30 mins to one hour
Seasonal: June 12th – August 11th (with training scheduled from May 30th to June 9th)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time, 40 hours/week
Supervisor: Teacher Mentor & Camp Manager
Location: Pottstown, PA

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
YW Camp Adventures offers children in the Pottstown area - many of whom never have walked in the woods, explored a pond, or learned to swim - the opportunity to stimulate their senses, gain social and emotional development, build experiences and skills, and gain knowledge outside their daily living environment. Children move through outdoor daily activities that focus on physical fitness, sports activities, environmental exploration, life skills, S.T.E.A.M., and creative expression through a multi-faceted approach. The enrichment the children gain at Camp Adventures will enhance their learning throughout the upcoming school year and beyond.
Our YW Camp Adventures summer camp is seeking an energetic, reliable Camp Counselor to provide a safe and memorable outdoor experience for our campers aged 6 to 12 years old. Camp Counselors should possess strong leadership skills and are responsible for the overall supervision of campers throughout all camp activities. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Counselor. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, we’d like to meet you!
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
YWCA Tri-County Area is invested in intentionally building a diverse summer camp staff to mirror the youth we serve. Building a team focused on promoting positive and professional relationships with children and families is our summer camp goal. Camp counselors are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of campers aged 6 to 12 throughout each camp day while supporting their participation in exciting and fun daily camp activities. Camp Counselors will attend mandatory certification trainings (CPR and First Aid) as needed and complete all internal training classes prior to the start of camp.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains constant surveillance and always ensures camper safety and order.
- Create and implement programs, crafts, and games each day.
- Create daily environment which fosters opportunities for skill building, excitement, and fun.
- Ability to identify and redirect inappropriate behaviors.
- Implement the practices of Conscious Discipline curricula and philosophy.
- Maintains confidentiality in all children and family records.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

Education & Experience:
- Hold a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2000 hours of experience working with children preferred.
- Must be available to work throughout the summer, keeping a high level of energy and engagement with campers.
