Scale Operator - ZFS Ithaca

Hourly Rate:

$19.00 an hour

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM

Extended hours required during the fall harvest season.

Job Summary:

The Scale Operator is responsible for weighing and testing incoming products to assure quality and maintain compliance with governmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Weigh incoming and outgoing loads of products and commodities and ensure accuracy of scale ticket information and required documentation.
• Perform grain sampling procedures and operate product testing equipment, sample machines, and computer software.
• Responsible for assuring all sampling and testing equipment is in good working order.
• Troubleshoot and monitor equipment and computer software when needed.
• Communicate frequently with customers, drivers, and facility personnel.
• Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.

Education and Experience:

• Education: High School or Equivalent
• Experience : In depth knowledge of quality control or commodity grading experience, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Possess understanding of grain receiving, scale operations, and quality testing practices.
• Proficient in operations of distributed control systems, data entry, and quality assurance equipment.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• High level verbal communications skills.
• Ability to maintain good attendance habits.
• Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
• Abide by the company’s safety, quality, and environmental, and HR policies at all times.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Frequently required to stand and sit for long periods of time.
• May be confined to a specific area.
• Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
• Operate in an office and production environment.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel to lift objects of 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to use stairs and ladders.
Ability to carry out tasks in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks at once.
