Position Summary:
Responsible for performing technical support functions for all pension Trust(s) in accordance with established deadlines.
General Duties:
- Complete initial set-up of retirement applications and inquiries, including preparing applications and file folders, handling credited service inquiries, processing acknowledgement letters, and obtaining additional information from retirees as needed.
- Audit existing files to determine if further benefits are payable and/or purges/prepares files for archives.
- Provide backup customer service for Pension Processors.
- Responsible for scanning, indexing and filing all paper documents and importing, indexing, routing and filing all electronic documents into the electronic document imaging database
- Contributes to team-oriented environment, including support of other team member's duties in a manner that further advances the goals and objectives of the department.
- Responsible for insuring file accuracy, image quality and completeness of imaged documents.
- Respond to miscellaneous correspondence in writing or via telephone.
- Handle annual signature verifications on all pension Trusts.
- Update computer data base with changes to bank information, beneficiary, and name/address for all Pension Trusts.
- Perform general clerical duties for such as filing, data entry, copying, etc.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One year of pension, benefits administration or insurance-related (property, casualty or life) experience. Specific experience working with policies and policy interpretation, ratings and rate changes, policy premiums, and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to resolve routine problems with minimal supervision required.
- Ability to type 45 WPM.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, technical procedures, benefit plans and regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
