JOB OVERVIEW
The Personal Training Manager is the business leader of the department. They create and support team culture to drive operational excellence in performance and results and deliver a superior experience. Our Personal Training Manager will be goal-oriented, results driven, eager to interact with members and excited to develop and manage a team of high performing talent. Other duties not listed in this ad may be assigned as necessary to ensure the proper operation of the department.
What We Expect From You
BUSINESS LEADER:
- Business management of the trainer including monthly PDMs, monthly projection reports, PT calendar management, lead and client communication, and oversight of trainers delivering complimentary services
- Conduct timely and relevant business management meetings to support trainer development
- Accountability of team’s business deliverables by setting targets, following up, providing feedback and support for progress
- Collaborate with Membership Sales team for PT Sales takeovers
- Assume Manage On Duty responsibilities in the absence of upper management
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
- Create and manage a scheduling tool ensuring floor schedule and the ability to deliver services
- Generate PT sale leads, schedule lead generation activities, and support trainer development to build successful business
- Set goals in support of in house events and execute proper follow up post event
- Implement and execute all operational SOPs for personal training department including administrative duties associated with client outreach and staff accountability
- Support trainers through financial planning as it relates to the compensation plan
- Develop programs to meet individual goals and needs
KPI MANAGEMENT:
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and or annual department financial goals
- Review and evaluate staff performance constructively on a regular basis through informal and formal performance management mechanisms
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
- Communication with potential leads and all members of the facility
- Scheduling of new member assessments as well as any trial sessions
LEADER OF TEAM CULTURE:
- Interview and hire staff ensuring they fit the Zone 6 culture
- Collaborate with all Zone 6 team members to achieve synergy within entire staff
- Establish and maintain standards for all trainers in regards to interactions with members and staff
- Use a professional and friendly communication style to enhance members’ and guests’ experience
- Maintain a safe, clean, well maintained, and esthetically appealing environment upholding Zone 6’s standards
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong active listening skills
- High level of leadership skills
- Ability to create team accountability through structured timelines, action plans, and required documentation
- Personal training experience of 5 years or more
- Management experience of 3 years or more
- Strong business acumen
- Exhibits sales skills with a specific focus on attracting and retaining clients
- Demonstrates strong social skills and desire to interact with members, staff and guests
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Enthusiastic and passionate about the fitness industry
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- At least one national certification (ACSM, ACE, NSCA, etc) additional training a plus
- CPR/AED certified
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in exercise physiology/fitness related field or equivalent experience
