Job Description:
What You Will Do:
Accurate and timely completion of all SEC filings, monthly financial reporting statements in an independent fashion, being the strategic lead of Zovio and directing their team and, in addition, internal and exernal counsel- Assist in the project management the coordination of Sarbanes Oxley compliance process along with the Director of SOX Compliance, with emphasis on (but not limited to) controls related to financial reporting and disclosures, including the development and implementation of the procedures necessary to achieve certifications
- Facilitate and organize the necessary deliverables for external auditors to perform quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audit
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and compile the supporting schedules working with various business units to draft and support management discussion and analysis in SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K filings
- Coordinate the preparation of the non-financial sections of SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K with the appropriate departments including legal and tax
- Independently design and strategically lead the execution of the company’s internal financial reporting process
- Oversee the cash flow, statement of equity (and related equity components) and analysis process
- Responsible for researching and analyzing changes in any regulations that affect corporate financial filings and reporting, including SEC financial reporting rules and regulations
- Perform research and analysis on high level SEC and technical accounting issues to determine appropriate accounting treatment and related financial disclosures
- Lead the preparation of financial sections of registration statements and, in addition, the annual proxy filing
- Proactively interface with external auditors and corporate management
- Performing ad hoc projects and financial analysis as needed
- Review financial documents for WASC, HLC, and other regulatory agencies, as necessary, for our clients
- Create, update and present periodic and ad hoc presentations to Finance Management, Executive Management and the Board of Directors
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA certification required
- Mastery of finance, accounting, and financial reporting including generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems and internal controls
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and budgets
- Must demonstrate exceptionally strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Word. Great Plains experience a plus
- Work requires professional written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships, including the ability and comfort to communicate with C-Suite team members and the Board of Directors
- Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Must be a proven leader and self-starter and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Must have exposure to and experience with all aspects of equity compensation
- A minimum of 10 years of prior financial reporting or accounting experience and management experience required. Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or senior level financial reporting experience at a public company preferred
- 5 years’ experience in private industry with substantial experience in SEC financial reporting (10K, 10Q filing) and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
